Die Welt benötigt einen globalen Plastikvertrag zum Verzicht auf Plastik. In Analogie zum Pariser Klimaschutzabkommen. Der Startschuss dafür soll im Frühjahr 2022 bei einem Treffen der mehr als 190 Mitgliedsländer des UN-Umweltprogramms (UNEP) in Nairobi fallen. Wir wollen Unterstützer für einen solchen Vertrag finden - erst in Deutschland, dann International. Mit diesen Unterstützern und der Petition wollen wir die Politiker der verschiedenen Teilnehmerländer und der UNEP zu einem mutigen Vertrag bewegen.

Denn alle aktuellen Maßnahmen gegen die Plastikverschmutzung des Planeten werden nicht erfolgreich sein. Jedes Jahr werden weltweit 300 Millionen Tonnen Plastik hergestellt. Bis 2050 wird sich diese Menge wahrscheinlich verdoppeln. Die Produktion von Plastik setzt viele Millionen Tonnen klimaschädliche Gase frei. Millionen Tonnen Plastik gelangen in die Meere und auf die Landflächen.

Wie das Pariser Abkommen muss auch ein Globaler Plastikvertrag verbindliche Regeln für alle Vertragsparteien definieren.

Einige Beispiele für notwendige Passagen des Vertrages:

- Kein neu hergestellter Kunststoff ab 2035
- Ein weltweites Mikroplastikverbot ab 2030
- Eine Verpflichtung zum Aufbau eines Abfallmanagementsystems in allen Ländern
- Ausgleichszahlungen der Entwicklungsländer zum Aufbau eines globalen Abfallwirtschaftssystems

The world needs a global plastic treaty on plastic. In analogy to the Paris climate protection agreement. The starting shot for this is to be given in spring 2022 at a meeting of the more than 190 member countries of the UN Environment Program (UNEP) in Nairobi. - A global ban on microplastics from 2030
- An obligation to set up a waste management system in all countries
- Compensation payments from developing countries to build a global waste management system
