Stop the use of animal leather and fur

Stop the use of animal leather and fur
Why this petition matters
Join Stella McCartney’s collective action during COP26 to combat the climate and biodiversity crises by signing her pledge to end the use of animal leathers and fur.
Leathers, skins and some furs come from animal agriculture, which in itself contributes to 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is consequently driving climate change and species extinction by clearing vital ecosystems like the Amazon rainforest.
The leather industry harms not only animals but people too, committing human rights atrocities daily. For instance, 90% of leather tannery workers die before the age of 50 in Bangladesh due to chemical exposures and hazardous working conditions.
The future of fashion –and our planet– is leather and fur-free.
PLEDGE:
To protect our shared future, I pledge to consciously reduce the amount of animal-based products I consume in order to combat the climate and biodiversity crises.
I call upon all industries to join me in this effort by ending the use of animal leathers and fur.
