GoodLife has decided to close the JUMP Child Minding Room at Thornhill Club on July 14th, 2017.
The main reasons behind this decision are not clear and no parent or member’s vote was included in the consultation process.
For sure this decision will have major impact on many young families and parents who actively use this program.
Why is this a BIG concern?
The majority of members with young children joined GL. Thornhill because it offers child minding (fee for service). In MOST cases, if child minding was not available, these parent members would have little or no opportunity to workout.
Our neighborhood is characterized by young couples and families with young children who regularly use the JUMP! There are many facilities in the Thornhill GL that no other neighborhood clubs have and many parents come all the way to this location for the facilities in this flagship location. We have the most caring JUMP instructors in this location, newly renovated and bright space for our children. This is what makes our club a very special place! Why close it down when having this service has direct benefit to our parents' mental and physical health ?
GoodLife promotes building strong and healthy communities:
“As a Canadian company, we view community investments not simply as a responsibility, but as an essential component in building strong and healthy communities”.
For parent members, family and friends, this is what JUMP! is all about. It is an essential component of our well-being, and a highly valuable service that allows many to live a fit, healthy and good life...
We have approached GoodLife home office, and we were told that this was a “done deal”. We are asking GoodLife to reconsider their decision and leave the JUMP program in place.
