Glenwood High School's graduating class of 2021 has experienced one of the hardest years of education. With spending the last full term in lockdown and missing out on crucial in-person lessons, they have had to take online exams with extreme pressure and lack of contact with friends and family.

Now, as they are nearing the closure of their schooling and completing their HSC exams after a stressful year, graduation is one of the final events where they can share their achievements they have gained in troubling times, and with the removal of restrictions and high vaccination rates it was highly likely that a normal graduation was to be expected.

However, on November the 5th the school has released a statement regarding the decision they have made to proceed with a virtual graduation, despite the extensive measures they can put in place to ensure that students are able to celebrate their achievements with family as they deserve.

This petition is requesting that Glenwood High School dismiss its original statement and re-organise an in-person graduation for parents. Measures to achieve this could involve the mandating of fully-vaccinated guests who will wear masks and be socially distanced from other guests, with safe routes for entering and leaving the premises to ensure no mingling between parents and non-year 12 students.

The Class of 2021 deserves closure that they can enjoy with parents after a tumultuous year. Lets not continue to let COVID-19 impact their final moments after 13 years of schooling.
