Open Rockhaven to the Public

We the undersigned respectfully ask the City of Glendale to finally find a way to open the Rockhaven Historic Property (2713 Honolulu Ave, Montrose, CA) to the public. If they will not use all the funding at their disposal they should allow a private party to create it, or work with the state to create a State Historic Park. We DO NOT want public park property to be allowed to become something that would take it away from public access (ie: a hotel, medical center or housing). Sanitariums were a significant part of the history of Glendale and this particular institution, run by an Armenian company for its last few years, adds a historic tie to the mixed ethnicity of Glendale. For nearly 80 years, Rockhaven was a sanitarium operated by women, for women. For the last ten years it has been operated by the parks department, advertising the beautiful historic buildings. It is time to finally create the public space it was bought to be.
