Problem
Here at Glenbard West, we proudly follow the phrase of, “Pride, Tradition and Excellence.” Tradition is something every student is excited to honor as they head down the hill to Duchon to graduate every spring. 2018 has been a great year that has celebrated inclusivity and moving together, accepting and admiring. But getting to wear a white gown at this school is a tradition that many who attend West look forward to, just as their classes that preceded them have. It is with that in mind, that those who sign this petition are able to get the opportunity to follow that tradition of representing both colors that makes the field of Duchon even more beautiful during the ceremony. While it is so vital today to be united, it’s also equally as important to celebrate our differences that make this senior class as amazing as it is. We are asking to be able to continue to choose to wear the white cap and gown to graduation, and those who would like to wear a green cap and gown can as well.
High school graduation only comes around once!
Solution
It would mean a lot to many to be able to continue in this tradition, and we are hoping for the solution for everyone to be able to choose. Those who want to wear white can continue to do so, but if somebody would like to wear a green gown, they can do that as well.
