A large amount of money that this school receives is from its students and the parents of the students that attend this school. This school already receives money and funding for most of its sports and club activities, to make what is most likely dozens of students pay $200 a year just to come to school without getting a ticket is absolutely the wrong way to profit. And for some students, the fee totally eliminates the possibility of driving to school, due to the different financial situations they may be in. I personally know people who have gotten in trouble and have had threats of detentions just for moving their cars out of the spot during lunch hour. It makes me wonder what that money is even being used for too, considering most of the boys bathrooms have broken or even NO locks at all on the stalls, multiple broken hand driers, and urinals that haven't been fixed for years. On top of this, the locker rooms have tons of broken / bent locker doors that need to be replaced, along with no hand driers or paper towels in the boys locker room bathroom at ALL. And keep in mind, the bathrooms stayed like this AFTER they installed new, and what I would presume to be expensive vape detectors in every single bathroom in the school. Makes you think, why would students want to vape or smoke away their stress in school? And, a lot of the gym equipment being used is very old, while yes a lot of it is still usable, it provides a much lesser experience to the students using them for physical education. The weight room is also severely outdated, having so many weights that are basically unusable by high school students, unless someone were to be jacked out of their mind on steroids, I don't think anyone can practically use an 85lbs dumbbell. On top of that too, there are nowhere near enough dumbells or plates of the weights that students actually frequently use, making it much harder and more annoying to lift with. The funding goes to all the wrong places in this school, and something needs to be done about it. While the I, nor anyone else would expect the school to be state of the art, it would still be a massive, massive quality of life improvement for all of the students who attend and spend money at Glenbard East Highschool.
