Please consider putting your support behind delaying the opening of Glen Rock Schools until the HVAC installation is fully functional and inspected. The public was informed at the Board of Education on August 24, 2020, that the new system will not be able to provide air conditioning until September 30, 2020, at the earliest. The extreme heat in Glen Rock elementary school classrooms is well documented. It is very difficult to teach and learn in a room that is close to 90 degrees. Now add to that heat the requirement of wearing masks and face shields. The situation becomes unhealthy and dangerous, not merely difficult. In addition, we have two elementary schools with classroom windows that do not open at all or only slightly. Further, we are not even clear as to whether we can open functioning windows because we were told that open windows will interfere with the HVAC system’s airflow. Finally, we cannot use fans to circulate air due to Covid-19.  Please consider the health, safety, and welfare of the students, teachers, and staff at Glen Rock Schools.
