Glen Carbon Residents' opposition to proposed Meridian Development
Glen Carbon Residents' opposition to proposed Meridian Development
Why this petition matters
We residents of Ginger Creek, Timberwolfe Estates, and other Glen Carbon neighborhoods request that the Village require development of the Meridian Plaza to comply with original requirements set forth for this property in the Village's Comprehensive Plan.
We are opposed to the following specific elements of the proposed Meridian Plaza Development:
- The inclusion of 6 apartment buildings (144 units) which requires a zoning change to Multifamily Residential that is not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, and exceeds the population density limits established by the Village.
- The inclusion of commercial properties along Meridian Road which is not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan established by the Village.
We believe these elements of the proposed development will create an excessive burden on local traffic, decrease the property values of our neighborhoods, and adversely impact the quality of life of our residents.
We also do not believe that the water runoff analysis and traffic study submitted by the developers have been validated by an independent third party, and that should be a necessity for any project for this property.
We ask that the Village deny the developer's request for the variances to the population density limits, building heights, and zoning changes that are not consistent with the original Comprehensive Plan.
