We are having some difficulty getting anyone to take ownership of the Clyde Pathway behind the Celtic Supporters Club London Road, Glasgow. Glasgow City Council is passing the buck onto Celtic Football Club, saying they own the land. Celtic Football Club is saying that even though it is their land the Council were responsible for maintaining it - Of course the Council are Denying this. No one has maintained the land, which has led to it being a total health hazard.
The lane is used by many cyclists, dog walkers and provides disabled access to the Clyde walkways, both by local residents of Glasgow and further afield. The lane also provides access to Westthorne Allotments.
With several risk assessments being done, with sever to fatality scorings, something has to be done. There are massive potholes - (still growing potholes) so big that people are refusing to take their cars down the lane. Carers are refusing to take their clients in wheelchairs down due to the health risk. Mothers with prams and young children are also avoiding using the lane.
The landscape is in total need of maintenance with weeds, shrubbery etc in growth overload, limiting access. The pathway is a breeding ground for hogweed (A poisonous weed that can cause severe burns in warm seasons).
Please help us to get this pathway back to being a well maintained public pathway.
