NORTAG [Northern Residents Tunnels Action Group] is driven by a single goal;
To do our part in making the north shore a safer, healthier place for our Children, and our Communities where we live, play and work.
I am very strongly opposed to and deeply concerned about the three Stacks in Cammeray, and elsewhere being unfiltered.
I am seeking from the Premier and Cabinet and Members of the Legislative Assembly of NSW that:
1. The Premier release any feasibility studies that show that road tunnels are more economically feasible over the long term than Public Transport, and
2. release the Feasibility Study/Business Case for the Northern Beaches Transport Options as was promised by former Premier Baird in 2014; and
3. IF the proposed 7km Western Harbour Tunnel and another 7km Northern Beaches Link Tunnels are the Best Value For Money Option then, like in Madrid, Tokyo & Hong Kong, the Premier must ensure that World’s best practice Filtration is installed, especially on smokestacks to protect the health an safety of our children and community.
Filtration is a mandatory requirement as a design in all Tenders as recommended by the Joint Parliamentary Committee in 2006 on which Andrew Constance was a member and which Gladys Berejiklian fought for in her passionate speech to Parliament in 2007 for the Lane Cove Tunnel.
As it stands, this is a State Government initiated Health Trial where serious health issues will be presented as a result in future years and this will be your legacy to your community.
