Since the beginning of the Delta spread I dreaded the inevitable fate of what this lockdown would mean to my family with our father who is currently residing at this nursing home with dementia.  It’s been over two months since any of us have seen dad and since there has been no visiting rights he has drastically declined. Today I’m upset, today I’m angry. All my family have been vaccinated, my father as well and still there has been no evidence of enough Government intervention in addressing our loved ones in nursing homes. To add, all nursing homes have each got their own rules and regulations in place. Prime minister Scott Morrison, I’ve already possibly spent the last Father’s Day seeing my dad through a tablet withering away. I saw the tears in my siblings eyes in pain knowing dad wanted us near. Can I please ask politely? If you are hoping on having families together by Christmas that you might prioritise our nursing home situation as soon as possible. I just fear it just might be too late for so many Australians who have been abiding by the rules amidst so much grey matter, being so utterly patient amidst the chaos of the governments blunders and decision making. Yes, I understand we are all not perfect, we can all make mistakes. But I’m refuting spending any longer watching dad wither while you all clean up your mess. The system is not perfect and with freedoms about to be announced soon, please put this up there on the top of your list of things to do, because it’s on many family Christmas wish lists and I’m sure it’s on my dads too. Absolutely heartbroken!!!

How much longer do we have to wait???
