Ban the Plastic Bag in New South Wales

On average Australian's use 4-billion plastic shopping bags a year, and approximately 50 million of these will enter the environment. Those that don't end up in landfill, never to break down and further polluting the ground. They also take a huge toll on the environment to manufacture, with about 6kg of Carbon Dioxide generated for every 1kg of plastic created.
By banning the plastic bag in NSW it would mean both a cleaner environment, and less harmful plastic ending up in landfill. In turn, it could also lead to a nation wide ban.
Australia is in the unique and privileged position of being both a wealthy and politically stable country. This privilege should be used effectively to make changes that will benefit everyone.
So please, let's convince our politicians that change needs to start now to preserve our future.
