There is so much noise intrusion into our daily lives, let's do what we can to ban man-made noise and sights that are so unnecessary in the enjoyment of our National Park(s).

I have been hiking in Glacier for nearly 50 years. The noise intrusion by scenic aircraft in recent decades is incredibly destructive to the experience of those trying to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Park.

Wilderness areas need only wild sounds - not helicopters and airplanes!

Restore the pristine natural soundscape visitors come to experience and on which wildlife depends. The natural sounds are as much a part of their natural splendor as their visual beauty and wildness.

I was a park employee in 1971 after my freshman year in college. I came all the way across the continent from South Carolina. The park, the mountains, the people I worked with were a magical moment in my life. From a non-exercise person, I turned into a life-long hiker. I loved those hours of quiet in the wilderness on the hiking trail. There is nothing so tranquil. Nothing so spiritual. I cannot imagine that helicopters now have the "right" to fly over this fragile soundscape. Helicopters remind my generation of the Vietnam War. Why has government allowed one of the last tranquil places on earth to be bombarded by noise? A privileged few get to ride on those flights. The rest of the "little people" below have no protection from the incessant "whomp, whomp, whomp" of the helicopter rotors. Please do not damage this magical place by allowing technology to mar its silent majesty. Susan Bryan
