Give Us Back Our Street: Restore Bus Service on the Woodward (53) line to Woodward Avenue
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
DDOT bus service on route 53, Woodward must be restored to its original route through Downtown Detroit on Woodward Avenue. This is the direct route from Northern Suburbs to Downtown Detroit, and has always been considered a necessary thoroughfare for Regional Transit.
Thousands of Detroiters use the Woodward bus on a daily basis. The constant rerouting of service on Woodward has already created a hardship for bus riders during construction of a project which will provide them no benefit. The route the Woodward bus currently takes bypasses many downtown destinations, including traffic court, banks, and churches creating a particular hardship for seniors and the disabled who now have a walk of 1 to 4 blocks to reach Woodward.
We need a bus that takes us where we need to go, that serves the needs of the majority of Detroit transit users. We need the Woodward bus to run down Woodward, through, not just to Downtown.
