To date the UK has given Ukraine the export variant of the Storm Shadow cruise missile with a range of approx 250km.

The standard variant of Storm Shadow on the other hand has a range of over 500km.

So far the UK hasn't given Ukraine the standard variant. If the UK did, then Ukraine could hit targets anywhere in Crimea with Storm Shadow missiles, as well as air bases in western Russia, and subs and ships in ports in the Sea of Azov (which have been moved there from the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk).

The more long-range missiles that Ukraine gets the better.

Taking out Russian aircraft on the ground would greatly reduce the threat to Ukraine from air-launched missiles and glide bombs, which are killing and maiming Ukrainians every day, including children and babies.

The standard Storm Shadow variant with a range of over 500km would enable Ukraine to hit more Russian air bases than it could with the export variant with a range of approx 250km.
