A101 was originally a wrestling room that was taken from Jesse Bethel's Wrestling Team. The wrestlers understand that room was in need for other extracurriculars, but wrestlers NEED their room back. Wrestlers are undervalued and under-appreciated even throughout all their accomplishments. Jesse Bethel’s wrestling team has won the first league title in school history (2018/2019), has won league for the last three years, has had multiple league champions, Girls placers at section, Boy qualifiers in section, Took third at the team section duals (2018/2019), has had the first state qualifier since 2014, and so much more. Throughout these accomplishments wrestlers have been forced to share the small gym with different sports and use equipment that is archaic. The mats have stayed on the floor because of complications with the hoist machine. When they are left on the floor they are tarnished because of the PE students that train in the small gym during school hours. NJROTC has TWO rooms in use and the wrestlers think this is unfair because A101 used to be a Wrestling room and we need it back. With A101 being back in the hands of wrestlers, wrestlers will have more availability for practices, have more efficient training equipment because we know it will be safe, and be more content with the school's efforts. If this is not possible, the wrestlers don’t mind sharing A101 as long as they get a space that’s not abused by other kids and have freedom to use it after school hours. For example we have dealt with trash, gum, and liquid on the mats which is not ideal for a hygienic environment. Thank you for listening and please sign and share!
