The students at Essex Northshore Technical and Agricultural School deserve a better spirit week than what we have. Currently, we only have a 3 day spirit week, which consists of Pajama Day, Neon day, and Color day. Pajama day is an okay concept, until you realize that since academics doesn't require a uniform, most kids come in in sweatpants, which is usually what is used for pajamas. Neon day is a horrible concept. Nobody owns Neon, and nobody wants to own Neon. Color day is boring, however it does make sense due to the pep rally being that day. Another problem with our Spirit Week is that it's only 3 days long, which I understand due to shop uniforms, but if Spirit Week can start on a Friday then the school is clearly OK with splitting it up between weeks. We can easily make it 5 days long. Lastly, I propose that to make up for our lackluster Spirit Week we should have one later in the year, perhaps for Christmas or Easter time. 

If our goal of changing and improving our Spirit Week goes through, then the whole school will see that the faculty truly does listen to us. It will provide more school spirit than a spirit week will, and a better Spirit Week will also provide the school better school spirit for years to come.

Essex Tech had the same Spirit Week 2 years in a row, unfair to both the Juniors and Seniors who have already had a rough year and a half at the school due to Covid. The current Sophmores and Freshmen will also be affected in the future, since if this Spirit Week goes by will full participation, that will make the facility believe that this is what should happen in the future and continue to give us lackluster Spirit Weeks.
