As many of you know NHTI has made the unfortunate decision to take away our mini fridges and microwaves in each room. Considering how much we pay in tuition this is downright ridiculous. They now expect us to use communal fridges and microwaves in the lounges that are not going to get cleaned and will be moldy within a week. Last year I lived in a wing with a communal fridge and it kept getting moldy and people kept messing with it by leaving purposefully smelly foods in there. Now if you want your own you have to buy one yourself. I legit don’t know of any college dorm in the area that doesn’t provide mini fridges/ microwaves in dorm rooms. NHTI has had this service for many years but given this recent change it’s clear that the housing department doesn’t care about what the students want or need. This college already has lower enrollment rates and removing these is not helping the cause. I am urging the director of Residential Life/ Housing Ryan Failing to issue each student a refund for the price of a new mini fridge considering our tuition wasn’t lowered to reflect a service we are no longer receiving being removed.
