Why this petition matters

Juneteenth was declared a federal holiday in the United States in 2021. It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

If you did not already know, Juneteenth is often observed for celebrating African American, and Black culture. Also called "Freedom Day," it originated in Galveston, Texas, and has been celebrated annually on June 19th in various parts of the United States since 1865.

Not only was Juneteenth declared a federal holiday in 2021, but Governor John Bel Edwards also declared it a state holiday beginning in 2021, as well: https://gov.louisiana.gov/index.cfm/newsroom/detail/3212

Artist Phlegm said it best with his t-shirt reading in BOLD LETTERS: "Everything you love about New Orleans is because of Black People."

Please give all AHL employees this paid day off to celebrate that which we love most about our beautiful state.

Thanks,

AHL Employees
