Dedicare un monumento, o un' area verde metropolitana a Giulia Maria Crespi.

Alla Cortese attenzione del Sindaco di Milano 

il Dott. Giuseppe Sala .

Gentilissimo Sindaco,

il 17/07/2020 è mancata a  Milano Giulia Maria Crespi Ved. Paravicini Mozzoni (n. Merate , 06/06/1923), un' importante filantropa ed  imprenditrice lombarda il cui  "notevole impegno civile, sociale e culturale a favore della collettività" già  le valse, nel 2003, per iniziativa  del Presidente della Repubblica Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, la nomina a "Cavaliere di gran croce dell'ordine al merito della Repubblica italiana".

Ebbe innumerevoli meriti professionali ( avrebbe guidato, ad esempio, tra il 1962 ed il  1975, proprio  attraverso i tumultuosi anni di piombo ed il rivoluzionario '68, il Corriere della Sera e sarebbe stata una  delle principali  pioniere nella promozione d'una agricoltura sostenibile in Italia, già resa da Lei  possibile,  alla fine degli anni '60, con l'applicazione di alcuni principi biodinamici nelle  Cascine Orsine di Bereguardo , PV) difficili da riassumere come  lo sarebbe la sua appassionante autobiografia "Il mio filo Rosso" (Einaudi, 2015).

Ma a Lei  soprattutto andrebbe riconosciuta l'indubbia importanza d' aver fondato , dopo una attiva presenza in Italia Nostra ,  nel 1975 - assieme ad Elena Croce , a Franco Russoli ed ad Alberto Predieri -  il Fai , il  Fondo per l'ambiente italiano (*),  una associazione  senza fine di lucro dedita, sul modello  del National Trust  britannico , alla tutela, alla valorizzazione ed  alla promozione del patrimonio storico-artistico e paesaggistico italiano, d' una realtà  che tenta  , quotidianamente,  di far propria quella  stessa ' missione 'sancita dall'art. 9 della Ns. Costituzione  .

Una associazione , quella del Fai, divenuta negli anni di rilievo  nazionale grazie alle  tante altre azioni di salvaguardia come quella che la stessa Giulia Maria Crespi avrebbe portato  innanzi , da sola,  nell'acquistare  e nel  far  restaurare a proprie spese il complesso del Monastero di Torba (VA)  nel 1977 e  che oggi,  assieme alla vicina chiesa di Santa Maria foris portas  ,   non  è  soltanto  una delle più  importanti testimonianze dell'arte alto medioevale europea , ma è anche un condiviso patrimonio dell' Umanità  , essendo stato  iscritto , dal  2011, nella lista dei Luoghi Unesco come "area archeologica di Castelseprio Torba". 

Il  ricordo  di Giulia Maria Crespi  - celebrato da un ampio e pressoché unanime coro di figure appartenenti ad ogni schieramento politico , oltre che  ai campi  dell'associazionismo, dell'imprenditoria, della  cultura , dell'arte e del giornalismo nazionale  - necessiterebbe, come già richiesto da taluni, a   mezzo stampa,    di essere perennemente fatto presente , qui , a Milano, nella Sua principale residenza,  attraverso  la dedicazione d'un monumento (**) ,   o d'un Giardino  , o d'un area  verde metropolitana di nuova concezione affinché la Sua persona  ed il Suo nome possano  essere di sempre viva e luminosa memoria  per le donne e per gli uomini di oggi, ma soprattutto per quelli di domani,  verso cui , già  adesso,  abbiamo delle infinite responsabilità ed obblighi.

La necessità di perorare,  qui ed ora,  questa causa, innanzi a Lei , Gentilissimo Sindaco, con  questa  petizione,  è apparsa  come oltremodo necessaria  perchè in molti potessero   manifestare un loro  attestato di   stima nei confronti di  quella che è ed è stata una grande Signora di questi due ultimi  secoli , ma soprattutto perchè , in un anno come questo, proprio in un periodo in cui il  tema della tutela ambientale si è presentato come più  inderogabile  a seguito dell'ennesima  rottura di alcuni secolari ed immutati equilibri,  una   più  tangibile memoria di Giulia Maria Crespi potrebbe  fungere da importante  guida e  supporto per delle esistenze più  armoniche  e responsabili  nel rapporto e nella percezione di quelle bellezze umane e naturali che ci circondano e che a noi sono state faticosamente ed amorevolmente  trasmesse .

Sperando che  questa  lettera  e le sue poche parole   possano raggiungere non solo Lei, ma anche tante altre Coscienze, muovendole verso una  concreta azione ,

(***) Come potrebbero anche essere quelli di Via Palestro che raccolgono delle testimonianze erette a celebrazione d'altri  importanti  cittadini milanesi   come  fu il Nobel per la  Pace Ernesto Teodoro Moneta , o che , semplicemente ,   nel loro essere  assai prossimi ad una  dimora di famiglia della imprenditrice  , furono forse, nella sua infanzia, la sede  privilegiata e felice di sempre più appassionati, frequenti  e consapevoli incontri   con la Natura.

Dear Mayor,

on 17/07/2020 left us in Milan  Giulia Maria Crespi widow Paravicini and Mozzoni (b. Merate , 06/06/1923), an important philanthropist and entrepreneur from Lombardy whose "remarkable civil, social and cultural commitment in favour of the community" has already  deserved her, in 2003, under  the initiative of the President of the Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the  appointment as "Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit".

She has had innumerable professional merits (she  had led, for example, between 1962 and 1975, precisely through the tumultuous "years of lead " and the revolutionary '68, the Corriere della Sera journal  and had  been one of the main pioneers in promoting a  sustainable agriculture in Italy, already made possible by her, at the end of the '60s, with the application of some bio dynamic principles into  the  Cascine Orsine di Bereguardo farm, PV) too difficult to be reasumed like it would be  the  making  of a summary of the exciting autobiography “My red thread” (Einaudi, 2015)

But, to Her, above all,  should be recognized the undoubted importance of having founded, after an active presence in Italia Nostra, in 1975 - together with Elena Croce, Franco Russoli and Alberto Predieri - the Fai, the Italian Fund for the  Environment (*), a non-profit association devoted, on the model of the British National Trust, to the protection, valorization and promotion of the Italian historical-artistic and landscape heritage, of a reality that tries, daily, to make its own the same  message  transmitted by the ninth article of Italian Constitution.

An association, the Fai, that has became across the  years of national importance thanks to  many other safeguard actions such as the one that Giulia Maria Crespi herself had  brought forward, alone, by  buying and restoring with  her own expense the complex of the Monastery of Torba (VA) in 1977, a place  that today,  together with the close  church of Santa Maria foris portas,  isn't only one of the most important examples of early medieval European art, but it 's  also a shared World Heritage Site, by being  included, since 2011, in the list of UNESCO sites as the "archaeological area of Castelseprio Torba". 

The remembrance of Giulia Maria Crespi -celebrated by a large and almost unanimous chorus of figures belonging to each political group, as well as to the fields of associationism, entrepreneurship, culture, art and national journalism  - need, as already requested by someone , through the press, to became an everlasting presence,  here, in Milan, in her  main residence, through the dedication of a monument (**), or of a garden, or of a green metropolitan area of new conception,  so that her  person and her  name will  became  an alive and bright memory for the women and men of today, but especially for those of tomorrow, to whom, already now, we have infinite responsibilities and obligations.

The need to plead, here and now, this cause, before you, Dear Mayor, with this petition, appeared to be extremely necessary so that many people could show their esteem for whom that  is and  that has been a great Lady of these last two centuries, but above all because, in a year like this one,  when the issue of environmental protection has become more pressing as the  result of the umpteenth breakdown of some centuries-old and unchanged balances, a more tangible memory of Giulia Maria Crespi could serve as an important guide and support for more harmonious and responsible lives in the relationship and perception of those human and natural beauties that surround us and that have been hardly  and with love  given   to us.

Hoping that this letter and its few words can reach not only you, but also many other consciences, moving them towards a concrete action,
