Being inconsiderate with the conducting of ONLINE SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS at GITAM

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, classes have been canceled and we were all sent home. We were assigned online classes to help cope with the syllabus. However, the faculty at GITAM is not properly equipped to conduct such classes and no matter how many times the process was iterated it was completely useless leaving us students with no idea whatsoever of the concepts being taught. Now the administration expects us to write exams online with no idea whatsoever of what was being taught. On top of this, they are being inconsiderate of the fact that some students may lack some of the basic facilities like internet/webcams/laptops to write these exams from the comforts of their homes. We thus request the management to either withhold the examinations or to take some other forms of merit (Like our existing CGPA paired with our internals) to credit us for the ongoing semester.

Most students and perhaps teachers too strongly believe that online examinations are totally discriminatory to all those who do not have access to fast internet or computers. A large number of surveys have shown that access to connectivity, laptops are extremely poor in India. Students are worried that technical glitches in assessing question papers on time and in depositing scripts etc. may prevent them from focusing on the exam. The ability of the GITAM website to handle such a heavy load is also a point of concern as many students have reported difficulties even in submitting the exam.
