Girls want justice: Stop unnecessary dress coding in Springboro schools
Why this petition matters
Springboro girls have been called out within seconds of entering the school for shorts that are too short, leggings that are too tight, jeans with holes too high, and a slight shoulder out. The school dress code NEEDS a change. Students are missing class, getting targeted, and being sexualized. Finding shorts that are of the "appropriate length" is extremely difficult because no clothing stores sell shorts perfectly tailored for different body types. Because girls have different body types, certain clothing may seem worse than what people might think. The dress code should be something kids use to their advantage for example not wearing something explicit/graphic. If students are crying during school because they are getting sexualized, and teachers are more worried about clothing than teaching, the dress code needs to be rethought. If people are not able to control themselves looking at a girl wearing shorts, that is their fault. As long as the item of clothing is not revealing things of concern, girls should be able to wear whatever makes them comfortable at school.
