I am a student at North Kingstown Highschool. One of the biggest problems the United States has been facing is a voters education. For instance, 36% of Americans could name all three branches of government while 35 % could not. This is a point at issue because when you're voting, you're not just voting for a candidate to sit in his/her office for 4 years, however, you're voting for the future of your country. Yes, voting is very important because when we vote we affect every form of our lives from school to health care to homeland security which affects everyone from children to adults. This right was gained and protected with much sacrifice, despite that fact a big majority of voters in the US don't even vote. Perhaps equally distributes a sizable number of those that do vote.
To solve this issue, and to create future educated voters, all High schools should have a Democracy Civics class. In this class, you learn about your rights, the voting system, politicians, the Government system and much more.
