Gilmer Co. Residents Deserve Access to a Stocked Grocery Store!

For over a year now, residents of Gilmer County, WV have been faced with bare store shelves nearly every time they visit their local Foodland. It is the only grocery store in the county, so for many residents who are unable to travel outside the county, it is their sole source of food. Residents have been forced to shop the two local dollar stores to supplement either what Foodland does not have, or what they simply cannot afford to purchase there. Because in addition to inventory problems, prices at Foodland have also skyrocketed.
Ask any Gilmer County resident, and they will tell you the same story -- some days there may not be any orange juice at all. Other days the frozen food section may be completely wiped out. There have been times when people have purchased meat, only to bring it home and find it on the brink of spoilage. Gilmer County residents have had enough. They deserve a local place where they can shop, without worry of whether or not they will have access to foods that are essential. They also deserve to be able to purchase these necessities without it creating financial hardship.
We, the people of Gilmer County, WV, call upon Foodland owner and WV State Sentor Douglas E. Facemire to address this issue once and for all. He addressed it once, and promised that things would get better. They have not. The people of Gilmer County have been loyal customers to Mr. Facemire's business for years, and they deserve better than what they are getting. If you agree, please sign this petition and together, we can bring about change.
