Gilbert Public Elementary Schools need to be secured!!
Why this petition matters

To the Board of the Gilbert Public Elementary Schools, Superintendent McCord, Board of Ed, Department of Ed, Superintendent Hoffman and Governor Ducey,
As parents we are grieved to learn of the events that unfolded in Uvalde, TX and so many other schools. We now know that in Texas the gunman gained entry to the school through an unlocked door. It is our understanding that all of the elementary schools in Gilbert currently do not have the front doors locked or secured during school hours. We are extremely concerned about the numerous safety risks that the unlocked front doors create for our students and your staff. We, the parents of your elementary students, demand that the safety of our students and your staff be of upmost importance. We urgently request that all of the doors in the elementary schools in Gilbert be secured and locked during school hours and a process implemented to screen visitors coming to the school. This is not an issue that can be pushed off for any reason! We ask that a solution to this safety issue be implemented before the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Everyday we send our children to school we place our trust in the Gilbert Public School board and staff to teach them and to keep them safe. The current process of entering the schools is not safe and needs to be addressed immediately. We look forward to your immediate and urgent response to this problem. Our students deserve to be safe at school!
