Devna Jain started this petition to Godavari River Management Board and

I am Devna Jain studying in the 9th grade at Oakridge International School. I have started this petition to spread awareness and take a step towards helping the condition of the Godavari River.

Everybody is aware of the famous Godavari river, but do you know what is the adverse effects that the water body is facing? Solely because of human errors and no awareness amongst the citizens of our locality, the condition of the river has been rapidly depleting.

This petition is directed towards the Godavari River Management Board, the Government of India and any other environmental organizations out there that could come together and come up with a breathtaking solution to make Godavari river just as it used to be once. The most holy and beautiful river in the country.

The Godavari river is amongst the largest and longest river in India and with it considered to be holy and sacred to most Indians, it becomes extremely crucial to conserve the true meaning of it.

The most dangerous activity to the river that has been occurring is the chemical and physical pollution. Plastic waste, industrial waste, effluents from ponds, chemical residues in agriculture, especially untreated sewage at the villages, towns and cities across Godavari find way to the river. Environmentalists say that the river is polluted right from its birth place, Nasik in Maharashtra, and is followed all throughout the course of it. Several industries are established along the shores of the rivers for obvious advantages and this leads to untreated industrial effluents and sewage being released into the river.

This excess pollution makes the river extremely hazardous, which in turn affects the people who depend on the Godavari River for daily water access. They already have limited resources and with their most needed one being very dicey for utilization, it makes living in the poverty community very hard.

Farmers and crop producers around the river also depend on the water for irrigation and sufficient agricultural growth but without the necessary quality of water, supply drastically reduces and at the end of the day it is us civils that are mostly affected. We go to the local market, search for groceries, see the rate of a specific grain or vegetable and complain about it being too high. But do you think what the actual reason is behind the increase of the rate? It's becomes difficult for farmers to grow vegetables and crops to provide distributors, but the demand is always so high.

Please do support me in this initiative to hopefully convince the targeted party to use today's scientific and technical innovations to help the Godavari River. Sign this to raise awareness and make our purpose heard. Let's bring about a change!
