Michael Kofi Asare started this petition to Ghana parliament

The Car dealership industry has been the backbone of Ghana's economy. The importation charges of these cars (either new/used/ salvaged) contribute about 40% to the building of the country. National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) and ECOWAS levy are all charges that form part of the import duty which enables Ghanaians to access health care. According to a survey, 92.5% can not afford new or even pre-owned vehicles. So most of us buy the salvaged cars from accredited auction companies in the US and Canada and ship them. When it gets to Ghana it goes through several processes that create employment for the citizens. A salvage car will go through the AutoBody workshop, the Electrician, the Mechanic, the sprayer, finally the detailer. All these people will lose their jobs if such cars are ban to enter Ghana. These cars go under a rebuilding process before they can be sold. If the government is worried about the safety of these cars. He can put in measures for inspection before these are registered in the system. Banning salvaged cars will create about 30% of unemployment in Ghana. The auto dealership mainly will collapse. If the government cares about its citizen's road safety, they should fix the Roads. Help me make this change happen and you will be part of history.
