Ghana Birth And Death Registry, STOP NAMES BAN!

After numerous complaint and unsatisfactory responses by the Ghanaian citizenry regarding the current happenings at the Birth And Death Registry, we believe the time is just right to demand answers. In case you are unaware, the BDR has imposed a ban on names such as Nana, Naa, Togbe, et al as they seem those names as suffixes and prefixes. Mr. Agbeko, the Registrar at the BDR, categorically stated in an interview with the Daily Heritage that the action is simply a control measure to deter Ghanaians from giving their wards "wonderful names" in some years to come. In accordance, we as citizens believe there is a huge flaw in this assertion. It is no rocket science that parents are rightfully mandated to give any name they deem fit their ward. And so, as far as this control measure being implemented isn't a law passed by the legislature, we believe it is only right to scrape it with immediate effect. In any case, the registry seeks to continue with this unjust act, we ask that a tangible and undisputable reason be given accordingly. The irony of the issue is that our ruling president himself bears one of the names being blacklisted. In a nutshell, we ask that this trend in the national offices of the Birth and Death Registry of the Republic of Ghana be stopped until the regulatory measures are totally justified. Let's not throw away our culture and traditions in the name of modernity. Please sign the petition and share to raise awareness. Thank you!
