m c started this petition to Getting a stadium and lights that all sports can use. and

This is our Reynolds High School Girls and Boys soccer teams! We need your help! We are the second largest high school in the state of Oregon and we don’t have a stadium.  Our fields are grass and currently unplayable due to neglect and lack of maintenance.  Our goals posts are old and rusty, and our nets are ripped because of that we have been playing our home games on local turf fields instead which has been hard and even harder because of Covid-19. We have practiced every day on our grass fields, but we are getting hurt due to the holes in the ground and when it rains the fields are a literal swamp. We are the only school in our conference, and beyond, that do not have access to turf fields and because we do not have lights, we are the only ones that do not have evening varsity games.  Our home games are held at 4pm without our names being called over a loudspeaker, no scoreboard and no National Anthem is played; there is not even a United States flag on our field.  Since our games are held at 4pm and we do not have large bleachers, not many parents or students are in attendance and we have trouble getting referees to come at that hour.  Our school just last night, March 31, 2021 approved $388,691 to be spent for “football field light installation” which is does not include our soccer fields as they are located elsewhere on campus.   The installation of new fields to be used by all student athletes would provide equal play.

The Reynolds High School Soccer program has a rich history that we feel should be honored.  The RHS Girls Soccer won the state titles 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1985 and were the first girls soccer team to win three consecutive state championship titles.  The RHS boys’ soccer team also had great success lead by the legendary former Portland Timbers soccer player, Clive Charles who went on the coach for the University of Portland and brought home the Women’s NCAA Championship trophy in 2002.   Also, within Reynolds’s soccer history is that of Emilio Hoffman who played during his freshman year before being killed on June 10, 2014 during our heartbreaking school shooting.  His coaches, Mr. Heckel and Mr. Berry still coach our boys and girls’ program.  We would love to honor Emilio and our strong program with a brand-new field that will honor those that played before us and to continue our Reynolds legacy for years to come.

We are asking for equality and getting the materials we need for greatness.
