Grandfathering in grandchildren into BHUSD

We are calling for your help in petitioning the Beverly Hills Unified School District to open permitting for grandchildren of home owner residents of Beverly Hills, and to allow these grandchildren to attend school in BHUSD.
BHUSD is currently a basic aid district where the only permits are for children of employees of the school district and city. For BHUSD, the only funding comes directly from property taxes. The taxes do not go to the State of California to get dispersed, but instead go directly to the district. For other districts where funding is dispersed by the State, funding is a variable, based on number of children enrolled. In BHUSD, no matter how many children are enrolled, the funding stays the same. Due to this funding structure, and serious mis-mangement of funds given including renovations of schools without appropriate funds, BHUSD is in serious financial crisis, and faces the closure of one of the K-8 schools as well as the district office.
Currently, all of the BHUSD schools are under enrolled. In order to qualify for State funding, which will solve the financial problems currently faced by the District, they need to enroll an additional 650 students. This can be met by allowing the grandchildren of Beverly Hills home owner residents to attend BHUSD.
