Over the winter one person on the Rochester Track and Field put in the most effort, the most hours, and the most miles out of everyone. He had an amazing indoor track/winter track season where he was able to run 4:55 in the 1600 and 10:54 in the 3200. This was all before the actual track season even started and he was Consistently improving and was ready to have an amazing track season. As track season started he was extremely excited to represent Rochester while also breaking new Pr's when he started to feel pain in his hip over spring break. He took instant action where he started resting and taking care of his hip until the point where it felt good enough to start running on again. At this point, he had already missed one race due to his injury but he seemed to be over it. Eventually, the 2nd meet of the season rolls around at Lake Orion High School. At this race, he takes 3rd place and is not able to effeciently race because his hip injury came back. This is when he started to realize that this hip injury was something more than he realized. After going to many doctor's appointments and plenty of X-rays plus an MRI he learned that he had a genetic CAM defect in his left hip. This caused him to start tearing into his labrum when he was running higher mileage and caused damage to the Labrum along with a lot of inflammation. Unfortunately, he has not been able to run efficiently since early April causing him to be cheated out of an extremely deserved letter. His times easily would have gotten him enough points throughout the season to earn a letter and I personally think that he should be given a varsity letter due to these facts. I am very grateful I got the chance to Run with this guy all winter and hope to be running with him again soon, get well soon Jake!!!
