Food waste is a big issue on Bucknell's campus. Currently, there is a biodigester being used to convert some of the food waste from Bostwick into graywater (wastewater without fecal contamination). This graywater is then sent to wastewater treatment plants, rather than going to the landfill. However, this does not address all of the food waste that Bucknell creates. We want to get food waste bins implemented in every dining hall (and eventually every building on campus) that will divert this food waste from the landfill to the biodigester.
