A Petition to the House of Commons,

Residents of the Markham Stouffville riding,

Ottawa, Ontario.

We, the undersigned, residents of the Markham Stouffville riding, draw the attention of the House to the following:

THAT Bill 21 of Quebec directly contradicts section 2 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms; the freedom of conscience, belief, and expression;

THAT racism and discrimination towards minority individuals who wear religious symbols has increased by a significant factor in Quebec, to the point where there are regular reports of teachers ridiculing minority children;

THAT part of our modern Canadian identity is built on diversity and inclusivity, yet Bill 21 directly contradicts this and has somehow been in place for over three years;

THAT the federal government has the power to intercede in this matter;

THEREFORE your petitioners request that Parliament reverse Bill 21 to help those who have been unjustly harmed by it.
