For more than two generations Simcoe County residents welcomed Bob into our homes in his various roles at CTV Barrie (formerly CKVR). From News Anchor to Weather Specialist. He hosted or produced more than 25 local telethons, and sat on journalism advisory committees for four different community colleges.
In 2002, he received the Dave Rogers Award from Canada’s Radio and Television News Directors’ Association (RTNDA) for Best Feature of the Year (2002) for the news segment “Bob’s Story: Life with Cancer”.
And on March 10th, 2016 he lost his battle with cancer.
This is a man who, when CTV Barrie laid off more than a dozen of its employees, retired in order to save the career of a younger colleague.
Bob McIntyre was an avid pilot who spent most of his time in the 1943 Tiger Moth.
In his honour, we call upon the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport to officially be re-named the Bob McIntyre Regional Airport.
