Mary Landers started this petition to Germantown Residents and

Shelby County Schools has filed a permit to expand Germantown Elementary School. The intention is to remove unused portables, expand the existing building by 22,000 sq feet, and add bicycle racks and parking spaces. Per the Engineer's study, less than half of the parking spaces are currently being used.  Children within 1.5 miles of the school do not have an option for bus transportation; however, the vast majority of these students attend GMSD schools, negating the need for additional bicycle racks.

A building expansion to Germantown Elementary will cause:

-Increased traffic through Germantown Park and Bromley, which is already a major issue

-Significantly decrease the chances of SCS selling back the 3 G's to Germantown

-Environmental concerns from cars sitting idle an hour before/after school

-Safety concerns for neighborhood children playing outside

- Adverse impacts on our State award winning Bluebird Trail at Farm Park
