Dawn Weinman started this petition to Germantown Hills School District 69 Administration and School Board

We, the undersigned parents and guardians of Germantown Hills School District 69, ask that the School Board and Administration reconsider their vote that placed our students on remote learning until January 19, 2021.  We ask that the board make a motion and approve our students to return to in-person learning immediately. We believe the best and safest place for our students to be educated at this time is in the classroom, face-to-face with their teachers.  We have experienced varied levels of difficulties in our individual homes during remote learning.  They are wide ranging and multifaceted, and they differ from family to family.  They include, but are not limited to, subpar educational experiences, excessive screen time, poor academic performance, disengagement, depression, anxiety, crying, and unreasonable and needless stress on the children, parents and the entire family unit. It is quite possible that these growing issues will have long lasting and far reaching consequences for our children.  Also, on December 2, the director of the CDC reiterated his advocacy for in-person learning, stating that schools aren't a major source of Covid transmission and said "But now the data clearly shows us that you can operate these schools in face-to-face learning in a safe and responsible way". At school, our children wear masks, socially distance in the classroom, have had the time they spend in the building each day reduced, have had their interactions among each other limited, use hand sanitizer, have had thousands of dollars spent to install HEPA air filtration systems in their classrooms, which should be more than adequate to maintain in person learning.  Because of all these factors, we respectfully request that you reconsider your decision and choose to make our children's immediate in-person education your top priority.
