I'm signing this petition because people need to earn a living. Joblessness is causing people to do crime.

I’m signing because although I have been employed remotely by an SA subsidiary, my job in Germany requires local team presence and I’m currently sitting in a sort of no-mans-land while waiting for the authorities to reclassify SA from being on the red list.

It's just plain ridiculous to ban South Africans entering Germany for all the reasons in the petition.

Our son (who is a German citizen and took up work in Germany in January 2021) and his South African fiancé have been separated since January 2021. One would assume that "family reunion" would constitute a valid reason for an exemption - it doesn't. The current regulations make provision only for the granting of SHORT term visa to SA nationals under certain conditions, among them the attendance at family weddings (but NOT your own!) and funerals (obviously not your own. But then nothing is 'obvious' in terms of bureaucratic logic, so better spell it out.) In other words: in a worst case scenario it is deemed an acceptable risk to allow a Beta-variant carrier who is eligible to claim humanitarian grounds into Germany on a SHORT term visit for up to 180 days - but the same person will not be issued a LONG term visa because the risk that they might be a Beta-Variant carrier is deemed inacceptable. Try and wrap your mind around this.

I applied for National Visa in March 2021 and am still waiting to join my company in Berlin… Luckily, so luckily, I can work remotely from SA… therefore I am signing for those in SA whi have had their livelihoods affected detrimentally due to this ban.

After months of searching, my friend in South Africa finally received a job offer in March to work at a German company. Despite his visa being approved, his life is on hold while he waits for the ban to be lifted. It is incredibly unfair and frustrating to punish those with a legitimate reason to come to Germany, given that the original reasons for imposing the travel ban are no longer valid!

I'm signing because I am South African and therefore affected by this travel ban. It is prejudice and the purpose for which it was created is no longer justifiable or sensible.
