Education in Georgia
Education in Georgia
Stand with Atlanta/Metro Atlanta Teachers.
We need your support as our voices are going unheard, our safety is in jeopardy, and our kids are continuously put at risk. Recently, Brian Kemp and the Georgia Legislation loosened COVID19 protocols and is urging all districts to ensure a return with no clear safety measures. The health and safety of our teachers, students, and communities is put at an even higher risk due to these decisions, and there is no established, well thought out plan for instruction as schools will have to begin closing as in years past due to COVID cases in the school where each class has nearly 25-30 students in them.
Action steps
Calling out Monday, January 10th, 2022 (other days in addition can work, but this is the primary day)
Planning meetings to discuss action items/demands for board meetings that we will attend (Dates to be released at another date)
Demands:
Reinstate COVID Protocols
Ensure free testing sites near all cluster schools
Develop a clear virtual instruction plan alongside teachers
Smaller class sizes to ensure better safety
If virtual teaching happens, ensure instructional model is not simultaneous teaching
Supply schools with instant read thermometers to check daily temperatures of people entering the building
One day per week asynchronous learning/planning day
