Negro Head Branch Stream in Lee County, GA is a hateful smear on Georgia's map.  The name carries with it decades of racism and a history of slavery & cruelty.  The name "Negro Head Branch" no longer represents the people or the state of Georgia. Indeed, local history does not even record the reason for the stream's name.  

Georgia residents find this and other similar holdovers from America's racist past a grim reminder that hate is still alive and thriving in hidden corners of the country.

It is time that Georgia takes a strong stand against racism by literally removing it from the map.  I propose that the stream, located off GA-32 near Egypt Road in Lee County, GA be renamed to Promised Land Stream, as a reminder that we can be led out of suffering into joy.
