Please help me help parents of children in school who were confused and unsure about whether it would be safe to send thier babies back to school for in class learning. I know how bad my child wanted to be there so I sent her in for the first day. That day she came home with a high fever and super sick. I feared the worst but prayed to God that it was only strep throat. It was. I've never been more relieved in my life. The doctor gave her a four day excuse. I sent her back the day it expired. Last year we found out my husband has congestive heart failure. Also my daughter is asthmatic. Both high risk. My decision was made. I wasn't going to let her go back. It was just not worth it. I will do ANYTHING to keep my family safe from this disease. Well the day I kept her home I reached out to the person responsible for the virtual learning and was told the deadline was before the first day of school and that they would not sign her up or give me the materials needed for her to participate in virtual learning. I asked a few times I have their emails to prove it. So I decided to email the superintendent thinking surely they can help me. That they would understand why I am afraid for my families life. I was told I was going to be turned in for truancy and punished. She did not have a ounce of empathy for my situation. But instead tells me I HAVE to take her to the place that I feel is unsafe now because of the spread in the other schools nearby. In fact UGA and Georgia Tech cases have doubled since the beginning of in class learning. I was told that there were just over 10 cases confirmed in Jefferson Academy. ....that they know of. The fact of the matter is they do not know. They cannot guarantee she is safe. I am not willing to take that chance and feel there should not be a deadline on my child's saftey or any other child with parents who are just so unsure and afraid. So please help and sign this petition to keep our kids safe. That is our right as parents in this free country and the only thing I live for. KIDS LIVES MATTER!!
