Raj Shrimali started this petition to Georgia Institute of Technology

Over the past year, there have been numerous data leaks on campus. Recently, up to 1.3 million records, potentially including social security numbers, were stolen. This is completely unacceptable; as a public, trusted institution, the Georgia Institute of Technology should have up-to-date cybersecurity practices. Although they claim that they are undergoing an investigation, the administration should hire a third-party company to do a thorough penetration test of all IT products and services, including but not limited to Buzzport, Oscar, Degreeworks, and the Bursar. This is the very minimum they should be doing, since all faculty, staff, and students trust them with all of our personal data. It is their moral obligation to safeguard it.
