Ariel Ebaugh started this petition to Georgia House of Representatives and

Right now, 450,000 people in the U.S. are incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses, many of them mere marijuana possession. Sixty to eighty percent of those people are people of color. Georgia has some of the strictest marijuana laws in the U.S., with harsh mandatory minimum sentences, severe limitations on medical marijuana, and the sixth highest weed-related arrest rate in the country. This disproportionately harms Georgia's low-income population and communities of color. You're three times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession if you're Black than if you're white. It's time to end these excessive penalties, which punish Georgians for a nonviolent, victimless "crime."

All forms of medical marijuana must be legalized, and doctors must be allowed to prescribe patients the medicine they need. All sentences, including fines, imprisonment, and any other penalties, for possession of 5 oz or less of marijuana must be eliminated. Sign this petition and share it with your friends and family to tell our state representatives and senators it's time for a more reasonable, just, and compassionate marijuana policy in Georgia. It's time to decriminalize marijuana.
