Michele Ward started this petition to Georgia Governor

This Law would be for the State of Ga to provide Medicaid to Victims of violent crimes for th rest of their lives.

My Husband was shot 3x in a home invasion in 2006. He has had many complications and health problems from his injuries. Which left him exempt from Obama Care and unable to afford medical insurance.

For the past 5 years he has had symptoms that he attributed to injuries from being shot. A free clinic ordered bloodwork and the results were not good. So after further testing those 5 years of symptoms turned out to be cancer that could have been caught in earlier stages provided he had Medicaid.

He was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer and has been denied Medicaid and is awaiting decision from SSA. Cancer does not sleep while waiting on medical insurance.

In the meantime the felons who shot him are housed and provided Medical care from the State of Ga.  While my husband has no insurance, how is this fair?

Any person that has been a victim of a violent crime in which they received lifelong injuries that require continued Medical treatment should be recipients of Ga State Medicaid.
