Against Paying to Park Downtown

This was sent to all GC students by FrontPage today. We already pay for a parking pass to park where we live - why should we have to pay for parking around campus as well? Please voice your opinion and attend the city meetings. This is our chance to be active citizens and voice our opinions since many of us are not registered to vote in Milledgeville.

From the FrontPage:

City of Milledgeville considers paid parking downtown

The City of Milledgeville is currently considering paid parking for the downtown area in addition to its current enforcement of 2-hour limits. This will potentially affect parking on city streets around GC's main campus. The payment system, specific boundaries, fees and enforcement hours are still currently being determined by the City of Milledgeville.

Georgia College officials have been in communication with the City of Milledgeville. However, since this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the city, we encourage you to be aware of the conversations taking place and the proposals being made.

The city hosted three community forums to obtain input from the public on November 7th & 8th. The next meeting concerning city parking will be at the City Council Work Session scheduled for 5:30 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in the City Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, at Milledgeville City Hall.

For more information about the potential changes to city parking, please contact City Planner Hank Griffeth at 478-414-4429.
