Christopher O'Brien started this petition to Georgia Board of Elections

Be it so resolved that any candidate for political office in the Georgia State Legislature, Georgia Senate, United States Congress, or United States Senate be barred from being placed on the ballot after having served 10 years at the end of their term, or in past legislative sessions for the position they seek to compete for.

The framers of this Republic did not envision a "political class" to be established in this new nation.  America was not established to create a "new aristocracy" or "royal bloodline" where any American citizen was deemed "superior" to to another.  In our Declaration of Independence, it was written that "all men are created equal."  There was no caveat that carved out an exemption for nepotism, nor was there any clause of "entitlement" allowing for the perpetuation of an individual to retain the reins of power and authority in this nation.

The founding fathers never foresaw serving with the public's trust as being a career endeavor.  President Washington set the example by stepping down as this nation's first Chief Executive after two terms, even though he could have served for life.  Over time, people became too comfortable as a politician, and they've perverted the American Ideal.  This statute would restore the American ideal once again.
