Better Digital Library Access for Georgia

Recently, the Georgia Download Destination changed content companies to RB Digital from Overdrive. This radically changed digital content and availability to those who check out ebooks and audio books through the Georgia public libraries. In a world that is technology driven, I hoped this change would improve availability, options, and access. It did not. Patrons are now forced to switch from downloading content using the Overdrive system to RB digital where Ebook selection is poor. But the most devastating part of the switch is that RB Digital does not work with eReaders! This is a step backwards, not forwards! This effects everyone in every community in Georgia. Georgia residents need access to Overdrive to allow individuals the ability to read from anywhere at anytime on their eReaders...not computers and tablets. Georgia residents should be able to read digital content without being forced to spend additional time behind a screen. Georgia Residents should be able to read on eReaders (and a kindle fire is a tablet not an eReader!). Reading is a form of entertainment and enjoyment but most importantly education. Shouldn't the library system be able to offer digital reading options to children, youth, and young adults without forcing screens and technology. I am unaware of why this switch was made, but this desperately needs to be rectified! The communities, libraries, and state need more options and easier access to books... Not less. Please return access to Overdrive and increase content!
