Keeping Preregistration at Georgetown University

Keeping Preregistration at Georgetown University
Georgetown has decided to eliminate our current system of preregistration.
The Problems:
This change will increase stress in the registration process. Students will be rushed to think about their schedule and priorities, especially if desired classes are already filled by the time they register. Instead, students will race to get to a class first once registration opens.
As a result, live registration decreases fairness. The way students will get classes will be based on who gets there first, rather than a selection process that creates a fair playing field. If students are in class or at work or abroad when their registration opens, they would be at a considerable disadvantage for registration.
Finally, this major change was made without consulting the majority of the student body. Many students found out through a Hoya article, rather than directly from the university.
