Whether an athlete, band member, trainer, or student with classes in the south hall, parking behind the annex has been, for the first 6 weeks of school, a problem. The reasons for concern fall anywhere from safety concerns with dark parking lots, over-crowding with busses, students, and cars, long walks, and lack of student understanding. Sports trainers are forced to, because of the parking, walk through an empty dark parking lot after long football games. Sports like cross country, tennis, volleyball, and many others must face a long grueling walk from their locker rooms to the annex parking lot as that’s where they've been made to park. Mr. Vogler, the AP responsible, will state if reached out, that this change has been done for safety, however, to have all students in 1 lot may pose a safety issue as there are more than just students' parking in the annex's rear parking, busses are pulling and up and away to drop off and pick up. Student drivers in their first years of driving will face avoiding busses, students walking, golf carts, and of course other student drivers. 

Covid has been a struggle all students have had to endure. Many sacrifices have been made, last year with the cancellation of homecoming, missing weeks on end because of quarantine, or missing those friends who opted for virtual class. Seniors especially have, currently no privileges granted to them other than prom. Underclassmen should see this as a concern as well, as this sets the president to continue to not have senior benefits like senior parking or off-campus lunch. East View High School has senior parking, where Georgetown High does not. If GISD wants to move forward with their 'Equality Initiative' this is not the way. Students deserve understanding and a voice for issues they spot and seek to resolve.

Walking through inconstantly lit fields and parking lots, or an uncomfortably far distance without appease and empathy fails to live up to the spirit of "better together." please sign and support the end goal of proctoring the best possible opportunities, for academics, athletes, and students at large.
