Sara K started this petition to Georges River Council and

We are residents of Rickard Road and have serious concerns about the proposed development of a Buddhist Temple and we hereby object to this development.

Our neighborhood currently accommodates a very diverse community living in a quiet street (R2 and R3 residence) and this development could have an adverse impact on the fabric of the community as well as property values, as the neighborhood will become less attractive to the wider community and families to which such a development would not be favourable/ beneficial. We also have concerns about likely noise issues (particularly on Sundays, when people are at home having a quite family day), traffic congestion, parking concerns etc.

The recent development of Marist Catholic School has created additional traffic flow to the street, not considering the 14 townhouses which are currently under construction that will also contribute to increased demand for parking and the traffic flow to the street.

In conjunction with these objections, we also urge the Council to extend the period for the public to submit objections/ share their thoughts or concerns. We believe this is a development of significant interest to the wider community residing in South Hurstville/ Connells Point area. We only became aware of this development application couple days ago through a letter in our mail box from the residents association. We urge the Council to extend the period and hold information sessions to make the wider community aware of this development.

We would like the council to take into account our concerns and extend the period of time by allowing sufficient time for people to object.
